  • bigpicWelcome to the Harrogate Golf Club Seniors Section. We offer an invitation to Members of the Club who are aged 55 years and over and of all abilities from a single figure handicap to the highest.

Many of our Club Members qualify for playing in the Seniors matches. This year no fewer than 27 matches have been organised at some of the most attractive venues in the area.

As a Senior you get to play with different partners so you get to know more people and therefore enhance your enjoyment as a Member of this great Club.

A Seniors match, home or away, takes the form of two teams consisting of 12 or 16 players. Tee-off time is usually around 9.30am and we play a four ball better ball format. Seniors are a competitive bunch, no honourable draws here, but all matches are played in a great spirit. After the match both teams have lunch together with the Captains of the day giving a short speech (sometimes very funny). All in all it is a great day out and a very civilised way to enjoy a game of golf and meet old and new friends.

There is a beginning of the season "pipe opener" in April with a Stableford Competition incorporating "hidden partners" then the matches against other Golf Clubs starts soon afterwards. We end the season with internal matches against the Ladies and Rabbits with the conclusion being a Seniors Texas Scramble.

All this is organised by our hard working Seniors Co-ordinator Robin Ingledew who is assisted by Gavin Little as Treasurer and David Molyneaux who is looking after the Website and Notice Board.

Membership of the Seniors cost just £5 for the season.

If you require more information please contact Robin Ingledew on (01423) 864443 or e-mail him at
